ABSTRACT

La pseudo-obstrucción colónica aguda o Síndrome de Ogilvie es una enfermedad que suele presentarse en los ancianos y se caracteriza por dolor abdominal, estreñimiento, obstipación y marcada distensión abdominal. Puede confundirse con el diagnóstico de vólvulo colónico y por lo tanto el tratamiento quirúrgico puede resultar innecesario.


Acute colonic pseudo-obstruction or Ogilvie´s Syndrome is a disease usually seen in elderly people and is characterized by abdominal pain, constipation, obstipation and severe abdominal distension. Might be confused with the diagnosis of colonic volvulus, hence its quirurgic treatment could result unnecessary.
